Deal News – PwC Legal advises Max Brown 7th District
The Max Brown 7th District brings a fresh boutique hotel concept with exciting gastronomy to Vienna. Max Brown Hotels trusted the expertise of PwC Legal Austria under the lead of Karl Koller for its market entry in Austria.
The Hotel
Max Brown creates charming hotels in some of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in Europe. The brand was founded in 2014 by the Amsterdam-based hotel management company Europe Hotels Private Collection (EHPC). Founded on the idea that a great hotel should provide the basics at their absolute best. After opening hotels in Amsterdam, Berlin and Düsseldorf, the newest Max Brown opens in the Neubau neighbourhood of Vienna on Schottenfeldgasse 74. It will offer 140 rooms and suites, an open-air terrace, a small shop featuring local brands and weekly events held in collaboration with Vienna-based authors, filmmakers, designers and artists.
Occupying the ground floor, chef Eyal Shani will introduce Seven North – a new restaurant and cocktail bar serving South Mediterranean, wood-fire cooked dishes.
The Deal
EHPC acquired the property including the former “Hotel am Schottenfeld” from the Falkensteiner Group.
Partner Karl Koller, who heads the Real Estate and Construction department at PwC Legal, advised EHPC / Max Brown from the purchase of the property to the conclusion of the hotel lease agreement. In addition, his team provided comprehensive advice on ongoing contractual and public law issues.
Karl Koller (partner) and Elias Pressler (senior associate) as well as Philipp Grohmann (associate) were involved in the project.
“We are proud to be able to advise on this great project with our real estate expertise” says Karl Koller. “The new hotel will contribute further to the revival of the Viennese hotel market in a young and modern segment“.
